Day 2: Surfing and Water Sports

In the early morning you  wake up and grab quick breakfast from the hotel for an 8 am Early morning start for Dominicnal Surf lessons for an hour lesson to learn and regain your past skills for surfing. You can Choose between beginner all the way to advanced surfing tips depending on your surfing skills. Each lesson is with a professional who will work with you to make sure you are improving your skills.

After surfing I suggest stopping for a more nourishing meal in Jaco. I recommend enjoying some more breakfast or lunch options depending on what you are in the mood for. One suggestion is the
Graffiti Restro Cafe and Wine Bar located in Jaco. They have a wide range of food options and an excellent and calm scenery after a busy morning. It is the perfect place to relax before heading back out into the surf.

Playa de Jaco is a great location to travel to for some mid morning surf. This is a great spot to test out the skills that you have learned after your surf lesson in the early morning. This is a very well known beach in Costa Rica. You can enjoy a whole morning of free surfing time to surf how you please. If you arrive early enough you will be able to catch night tide for some waves. Check out the website below for some instant reports from the beach and how the surf looks for the day.

Check this website for daily surf and weather reports for the waves and currents

Later in the afternoon, I suggest walking down the beach to visit Playa Hermosa. This beach looks over the Gulf of Papagayo and is a good friendly and family location. There are many activities that you can choose from while here for the afternoon into the night.
Some options that you can choose from are sport fishing, sailing, scuba diving or snorkeling and leisurely sunset catamaran tours.

After more water sports and a day on the beach, I suggest a nice sit down meal. Mario's Cuisine is a great place to stop at where they have a wide range of Costa Rican food and a large menu to choose whether you would like seafood or a plate from their wide range of vegetables.

Before heading out for the night, I suggest spending some down time either on the beach or getting a massage. On your way back to the hotel, you can stop at Salon Spa Jaco, in Jaco, Costa Rica. You can choose from a calm massage or a sports massage to reduce pain from all the surfing. They will travel to your hotel or you can choose a location to get your massage.

Day 1

Arrive in Costa Rica

In the morning I arrived at the Juan Santamaria International Airport in Alajuela, Costa Rica. From here, I suggest taking the cab service to you location on Jaco beach. Along the way make sure to have your cab driver stop at locations for your leisure. After spending time in the taxi, make sure to stop and visit Alajuela, the 3rd biggest city in Costa Rica.

After your arrival, I suggest stopping to grab something to eat. Try visiting the  Gaia Cafe, which is where I went to enjoy a light breakfast.

Gaia Cafe-  Here they have excellent, rich coffee options and great service. They have espressos as well as capppachinos and frappes. They are connected with local farmers, producers, traders as well as human resources who supply the cafe with great products. This is a great way to get your caffeene boost and a good breakfast before the start of your day.

After spending a short amount of time in the city, you arrive at your hotel around mid afternoon with plenty of time to spare for the rest of your day.
Hotel information:
Villa Caletas, Avenida Amapola, Jacó, Costa Rica.

For the afternoon you will be taking a Jaco Sea Kayak and Snorkel tour which lasts half of the day. When you arrive you will have time to spend on the beach as well as looking through the canopies of the trees for wildlife. You will kayak with a professional guide through the pacific ocean to enjoy the view and scenery. After some kayaking, you will be permitted to snorkel to enjoy some underwater adventures. Make sure to bring a towel, bathing suit, sunscreen and your camera. The kayaks and scuba diving gear will be given to you.

After your tour stop at Lemon Zest Restaurant located in Jaco. This is an international cuisine restaurant that offers a wide variety of foods along with local, fresh ingredients. I suggest trying their  Spicy Togarashi Ahi Tuna with pickled Ginger teriyaki and sauteed spinach, as it is fresh and prepared in the restaurant. Their green curry coconut shrimp is also delicious. Don't forget about their desserts and drinks as well. There is a long menu of drinks and desserts to choose from. The restaraunt is also available to cook fresh fish if you bring it in from a long day of fishing. Below is the restaurants website to look into further dishes and dinner options, as well as their phone number if you have any questions.

As it starts to get later, I suggest heading back to your hotel to take a quick rest and get ready for a night out with drinks, dancing, and socializing.

One suggestion I have is to visit the Le Loft. This a trendy and popular bar located right in the center of Jaco. There is full service, music and sections for VIP. It usually doesn't get crowded till later in the night/morning, so it is a good place to come after some rest, or after some fun at some previous bars.

One more suggestion is the Backyard bar which is an all time favorite. This bar is located right on the beach where people start arriving anywhere after 4pm. There are many drink specials and an on-going crowd. There are also local surf competitions that you might get too take a look at depending on when you would like to visit.

After a long night out, I recommend heading back to the hotel for a long, busy day tomorrow in the surf.
